Madurai's photogenic landmark

The pillars have always amused me ever since I saw the picturisation of a song in the famed Mani Ratnam movie "Bombay". There is a romantic appeal to those empty corridors flanked by the amazing pillars and carved domes oozing the Indosarcenic architecture.

It is a pity that ASI has laws that does not allow the use of tripods to take more crisp pictures.

Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal at Madurai is a grand and imposing piece of architecture. It is any photographer's dream building to capture the angles and the intricate symmetry of the arches.

The central courtyard at one time would have been such a bustling place. The open to sky add a different dimension to the beauty of the structure.

This is a must see place for any person interested in photography.

Madurai, has a very good Taj property located on the Pasumalai hills which offers this beautiful view of the towering gopurams of the famed Meenakshi Temple!
